This hardy orchid must be grown outside, either in a pot or open ground. According to some, the more frosts Cypripedium get, the better they flower! Cypripedium are vigorous growers that flower reliably and can double in size every year, however you need to follow some golden rules:

• Grow in a shady place (I suggest an uncovered north or east facing wall, or dappled shade).
• Keep moist during the spring-summer growing season
• If growing in a pot, use a media of around 45% coarse perlite, 45% medium grade horticultural pumice, and no more than 5-10% organic matter (I suggest composted bark). Too much organic matter = death
• Use artificial osmocote fertiliser in late winter, around February to mid-March. Be fairly generous; they are heavy feeders
• Do not use manure or any other organic fertilser. You will kill them.

All plants are sent Royal Mail 1^st Class recorded delivery: £8.00 for one plant or £10 for two or more plants. Plants can also be collected from our nursery in Bristol.
